Agents of Learning: UDL 3.0 in Action Through Learner-Driven Design
Goodwin University (East Hartford, Connecticut, USA) held its 4th Annual UDL Conference on October 17, 2025 exploring “Learning-Driven Design”—a transformative approach to empower students as active, engaged learners.
Learning-driven design represents a paradigm shift in how we approach universal design in higher education. Moving beyond accessibility, this approach places learner agency at the center of course design, asking not just how to make content accessible but also how to empower students to become skilled, motivated, and strategic learners.

This year, the conference was led by Dr. Annjannette Bennar, Director of the Academic Success Center at Goodwin University, and a member of the current INCLUDE Leadership Team.
New Course on UDL and Inclusion for educators in the UK and Indonesia
A new online professional development course has been devised by colleagues at the University of Worcester and Universitas Indonesia that aims to provide lecturers in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with basic insights regarding UDL and its application for course design. The course consists of 4 short modules, should take about 2 hours to complete and is free to access with the unique opportunity to offer feedback to improve the course for the future.
The course was funded by the British Council as part of it Global Partnerships initiative which is currently supporting the project titled ‘Strengthening Higher Education in Indonesia and the UK through Universal Design for Learning’.
